Active Four in Poultry
Healthy gut is the key to a healthy bird. Besides being in charge of digestion and absorption of nutrients for growth, the intestines are also the largest immune organ in the body, thus a healthy gut is vital for a bird’s health. Following the ban of antibiotics in prophylaxis use in livestock animals, antibiotic replacement becomes key in poultry production.
Probiotic is essential to help regulate gut normal flora in chickens. Especially in young chicks with developing gut flora, it is important to provide probiotic to help maintain balance of good and bad microflora.
Animal gut consists of 3 sections, foregut, midgut and hindgut. Foregut is aerobic environment, suitable for aerobic bacteria to grow, while inhibiting anaerobic bacteria. Hindgut is anaerobic environment, not suitable for aerobic bacteria to live. For a probiotic to reach the entire intestinal tract, it is essential to choose a product that is able to survive the different environment of the gut. Active Four consists of three Bacillus strains and one Clostridium strain- Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus licheniformis, Bacillus coagulans, and Clostridium butyricum. All probiotic strains in Active Four are spore forming bacteria, which are able to resist the different pH and environment of the gastro-intestinal tract.
Active Four produces digestive enzymes like cellulase, caseinase and amylase, to help in animal digestion. A good digestion will result in less nutrient wastage, and in turn reduce the ammonia level in the farm. Active Four also produces bacteriocins which have strong antimicrobial effect on common pathogenic bacteria like Clostridium perfringens, Salmonella and Staphylococcus aureus.
Active Four provides a synergistic effect with the lactic acid and butyric acid produced. Lactic acid produced by Bacillus coagulans is utilised by Clostridium butyricum, which in turn produces butyric acid for the intestinal cells. Butyric acid is essential nutrient for intestinal cells and helps in repairing damaged intestinal cells. Lactic acid produced lowers intestinal pH to a suitable environment for other beneficial bacteria.
Active Four reduces diarrhea rate in day-old-chicks; improve feed conversion ratio (FCR) and daily weight gain in broiler production while reducing enteritis; improve FCR, increase egg yield and egg weight in layer production; and improve overall nutrient digestibility.
With just 300-800 grams per ton of feed, you can provide the best probiotic supplementation for all different stages of chickens.

Healthy gut is the key to a healthy pig. Besides being in charge of digestion and absorption of nutrients for growth, the intestines are also the largest immune organ in the body, thus a healthy gut is vital for a pig’s health. Active Four improves FCR and daily weight gain, reduce diarrhea, regulates intestinal flora within 2 weeks of supplementation in weaned piglets; improve FCR and daily weight gain in growing pigs; and improve overall performance in lactating sows.
With just 300- 600 grams per ton of feed, you can give the best probiotic supplement to all stages of your pigs.
